So here's my story. We reached Araneta at around 9:30 pm. When we got there, we didn't go straight to the concert; we went first to Seafood Island to have dinner. Gosh, was I starving then. We had this really big meal, called Dapitan's Pride, served on a big, square wooden platter covered with banana leaves. The meal consisted of seafood rice (I guess), coco gin shrimps, a crab, a grilled tilapia, and clams. Instead of eating on plates, we have to eat the food on the serving platter itself, on the banana leaves. It was fun. Then my tito ordered Pinoy Nachos pa. According to the menu, the nachos was supposed to be consisting of adobo chips, sliced onions, chopped green and red bell peppers, sliced mangoes, and cheese sauce served over fried lumpia wrappers. So how was the Nachos? Umay at first bite. =p Music filled the place while we were eating. The violinists played good music, from the classic "Moon River" to Kamikazee's "Narda". Anyhow, after the dinner, we went outside to see the concert. I noticed how A LOT of teenagers (and feeling teens) in black shirts and plaid pants and what-nots paraded around the place. I think they were trying very hard to project a certain image. Hmm.. Pinikpikan was currently performing then. I haven't listened to their music yet; the only song I know that they sang was a rendition of Sarungbanggi (which I think means "Isang Gabi" in Bicol dialect).
FYI: Pinikipikan is a way of killing chickens in the Mountain Province. It is a method where "pinipitik nila yung mga manok sa leeg hanggang sa mamatay.." Torture. I think the people from that place doesn't want to see blood spill from the chickens. The result? A very malansang chicken dish (Thanks Mommy Babes for the info! =p).
Akafellas went onstage next. I really didn't watched nor listened to them perform. After them, Barbie Almalbis came onstage. The area near the stage suddenly became full of (quote-unquote) punk rockers. Barbie was great. She performed three songs, the only one I can remember now is the jingle of Sunsilk Summer Fresh's commercial. Rocksteddy was next to perform. We were actually glad to see them perform because of my 3-year-old cousin, Julius. Bata pa lang, rakista na. =p Whenever he hears "Lagi Mo Na Lang Dinededma", he grabs the badminton racket, strums it like a guitar, and sings along. He goes, "Mahal kita, pero di-i mo la la-a". So when Rocksteddy performed the song for their finale, Julius reached for the canned softdrinks and started drumming. After Rocksteddy's performance, Karel's mom and company went onstage next and gave the audience a nice performance of singing, voice lessons, and stand-up comedy acts. They were really funny. After that, my tita told us that we're going home. Too bad. I would like to see Kitchie, Pupil, Radioactive Sago, and Up Dharma perform pa naman.
So there. I hope to see next year's Earth Jam again. And finish it. =)
ciao.
